Welcome to the AWS Amplify with Claude course on homegeek.tv! This course is continually being updated and improved. There is an opportunity for you to provide feedback and/or message the content creator if you have suggestions or find an error in the course. Each section is broken down in to bite-sized chunks so that you can review each section if you get stuck.
Before we build anything, you need three accounts: Claude, GitHub, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Each one has a job. Claude writes your app, GitHub stores and backs up your work, and AWS publishes your app and runs the login, database and photo storage behind it. In this section I’ll walk you through creating each account, one screen at a time, so you can follow along even if you’ve never signed up for a developer service before. Set aside about an hour, and pause the video whenever you need to.
A few things will make this go smoothly. Claude Code needs a paid Claude plan, because the free plan doesn’t include it. GitHub is free. AWS is free to sign up for, but it asks for a credit card and a phone number to verify your identity. Verification can take a little while, so we’ll start AWS first and let it finish in the background. You won’t be charged just for having an account, and in the next module we’ll set a budget alert so there are no surprises later.
